January 19, 2011 – Target is now hiring up to 250 employees for its new Rte. 20 store, scheduled to open March 6. “We hire, in general, primarily locally for our stores,” Target spokeswoman Amy Reilly said.
The general merchandise store, at the intersection of Rte. 20 and Dicenzo Boulevard, will have a fresh food selection, including produce, meat, dairy and baked goods. The store will also have interactive touch screens and testing stations in the beauty department, Reilly said.
Target has another Marlborough store at 423 Donald Lynch Blvd.
Target had originally planned to open the new store in early 2010 but put the project on hold in late 2008, citing the tough economy.
Major construction on the 135,000-square-foot store started again in 2010. Stores typically take about one year to build.
Target’s plans called for a store that employs 150 to 250 workers.
