City Shuttle from Marlborough to four downtown Boston locations costs $6 with free parking, WiFi

Marlborough, MASS.January 18, 2016 – In an effort to raise awareness and ridership, the Marlborough Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) has launched a campaign to promote the new City Shuttle from Marlborough to Boston. The MEDC is hoping to encourage more commuters to make use of the bus route by emphasizing its comfort, convenience and cost.

Launched in October 2015 by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) and operated by Peter Pan, the bus makes two round trips every weekday and costs $6 one way. It departs daily at 6:30am and 7:30am from the corner of Granger Boulevard and Newton Street in Marlborough and stops upon request at four locations in downtown Boston – Copley Square, Park Square, State House, South Station. The daily return trips from Boston begin at 4:45pm and 5:45pm.

City Shuttle riders can park for free at the Newton Street Parking Garage in Marlborough and enjoy free WiFi onboard the bus.

“There are number of Marlborough residents who commute to Boston for work,” said MEDC Executive Director Tim Cummings. “Until recently, these people had to drive to the Southborough commuter station, pay $4 for parking and another $9 or so for a one-hour train ride into Boston. The new City Shuttle daily service takes people—in comfort—directly from Marlborough to Boston in almost the same amount of time and at half the cost. It’s a no brainer!”

“Instead of worrying about the traffic to Boston or the unpredictable school-time traffic all the way to Ashland, I’m greeted by a bus driver in the center of town,” says Marlborough resident and City Shuttle rider, Brian Silver. “The bus picks me up promptly at 7:30 and I can take advantage of the WiFi that is good enough to hold Google Hangout chats, email, and anything else I need to conduct business as usual. Not only is having a driver to deal with the pains of Boston traffic convenient, but it feels great to use Public Transportation to show a smaller carbon footprint.”
