The MetroWest Daily News — The Marlborough City Council voted on Monday to support a master plan for economic development released by a quasi-public agency in 2011.
The City Council will place a preamble at the beginning of the 383-page master plan, crafted by the Marlborough Economic Development Corporation.
Although it was released in 2011, the plan never had any explicit municipal endorsement. The Operations and Oversight Committee met in a handful of recent meetings to discuss the plan and draft the preamble.
The main aim of the plan is to reduce the residential tax burden by attracting more companies to the city. Much of Marlborough Economic Development Corporation’s funding comes from the city’s hotel tax.
