MASS LIVE – Flying Dreams Brewing Co. is set to open its new Marlborough location next Friday, becoming the second taproom in the city of 38,500.
Owner Dave Richardson, who opened the Worcester-based brewery three years ago, decided to expand to a larger space when he saw demand for his product growing beyond the Park Avenue location’s capacity.
“We’ve had everything ready except for the actual permit for a while now, so we’re super duper pumped to be able to open, and open before Christmas and everything,” he said.
The Marlborough location in the Victoria Building at 277 Main St. was previously going to be home to Walden Woods Brewing, but the owners’ plans fell through at the last minute.
With the new space, Richardson said he expects to more than double his yearly production of 500 barrels.
“I expect to be somewhere around 1,200 barrels next year,” he said.
On the inside, POW! WOW! Worcester artist Kai Griffiths spent around 100 hours painting murals on every wall. So far, they feature a space scene, a dragon and a sunset.
“He’s going to come in time to time put even more and more detail and figures and things as time goes on,” Richardson said.
The space has 75 seats and capacity for another 50 in standing room, and will be run primarily by Richardson’s wife, Stephanie.
The taproom will be open Wednesday from 4 to 9 p.m., Thursday from 3 to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from noon to 10 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.
