METROWEST DAILY NEWS – Construction on the city’s new $56.4 million elementary school is just days away from being substantially complete.
Crews are testing systems, cleaning and waxing floors and will landscape the area and continue street construction, but the major interior components of the project are finished, said Superintendent Michael Bergeron. Students are slated to file through the doors of the new school in August.
“Our substantial completion date has not changed from April 7,” he said.
Work on the city’s fourth elementary school kicked off in summeNer 2018 with tree clearing, debris removal, relocating a sewer line and constructing a large retaining wall around the property.
The Massachusetts School Building Authority in spring 2018 signed off on reimbursing the city $29 million for the $56.4 million project. The City Council approved funding its share of the project a few weeks later.
