Andrea Pion was elected Chair in 2018, having served on the MEDC board since 2016 and previously acted as both an Executive Committee and a Marketing Subcommittee member. She is the Vice President of Marketing at The DAVIS Companies, a Marlborough-based staffing firm and one of Massachusetts’ largest privately-owned companies. Since joining DAVIS in 1988, Andrea has launched and grown the firm’s Contract Administrative Placement division, developed and managed its national expansion plans, and directed and streamlined its New England operations. Currently, Andrea is focusing on DAVIS’ corporate nationwide branding, marketing and public relations initiatives. In 2016, she spearheaded the company’s rebranding, new website launch and alignment of various campaigns to generate strategic growth. Before joining the staffing industry, Andrea spent six years managing The Limited flagship store at Copley Place. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Arizona.
David J. Walton
David Walton is the co-owner of Patriot Ambulance, which provides services to over 220,000 citizens across Marlborough, Hudson, Lawrence and Dracut. A long-time firefighter and EMT with decades of experience, David started Patriot Ambulance with his partner Maurice Ryan in 1979. The company is a member of the Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce, Marlborough Rotary, Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce and Lawrence Rotary. David was the recipient of the Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce “Businessperson of the Year” Award in 2007 and held the post of chairman of the chamber’s board in 2011.
Michael Murphy is the president of D.F. Murphy Insurance Agency, a local business headquartered in Hudson, MA, with additional offices in Bolton, Harvard, Groton, Marlborough, Mendon and Medway. Besides managing the daily operations of his agency, Michael is also directly involved with his clients and is active in his community, serving on various area organizations. He is a member of the Board of Governors of the Boys and Girls Club of MetroWest and a vice chair of the Board of Trustees of the Marlborough Hospital.
Richard Tomanek has served on the MEDC board since 2010, first as Vice Chair until 2014 and then as Chair until 2018. A veteran hotelier, he has been in the hospitality industry for over 30 years and has worked across the country with Starwood Hotels, Intercontinental Hotels Group, and, for the past 24 years, Hilton Hotel Corporation. Richard is the general manager of the award-winning Embassy Suites Hotel, Marlborough, which he opened in 1995 after a complete redevelopment of the existing property. He has also been the chairman of the Marlborough Convention and Visitors Bureau and is an active proponent of economic and tourism development in the City of Marlborough.
Arthur G. Vigeant
Arthur Vigeant is the mayor and a life-long resident of the City of Marlborough. Elected to the Marlborough City Council as a councilor-at-large in 1994, Arthur served as chairman of the Finance Committee for six years and as council president for nine years, before he was elected mayor in 2012. Arthur has supported economic tax development to create jobs and ease the tax burden on local residents. He has been a constant advocate for planned industrial growth in Marlborough, and has negotiated tax incentive programs to benefit companies like GE Healthcare Life Sciences, Quest Diagnostics, Boston Scientific, and SanDisk. Arthur has been a member of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants since 1990 and provides financial services to businesses and individuals from his office in downtown Marlborough.
Michael Ossing graduated from the Marlborough Public School system and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Lowell. Michael recently retired, after working at the Seabrook Station Nuclear Power Plant for over 35 years. There, he held various engineering, project management and leadership positions, including Licensing Manager and Engineering Programs Manager. Michael joined the City Council in 2000 and is currently serving in his tenth term as a councilor-at-large. He has been the chairman of the City Council Finance Committee for the last 11 years, and is also currently the city’s Ad-Hoc Municipal Aggregation Committee Chairman and Other Post-Employment Benefits (OPEB) Trust Fund Board of Trustees member.
William M. Pezzoni
William Pezzoni is an attorney with the law firm of Day Pitney LLP, and was formerly with Mirick O’Connell. He practices in the areas of commercial lending, real estate law, zoning, wetlands and land use. He assists clients with site assessment, purchase, sale and development of commercial, industrial, retail, mixed-use and residential properties; commercial and retail leasing, leasebacks and planning; and title insurance and litigation support for title issues. William is also a member of the Board of Directors of the 495/MetroWest Partnership and a past chair of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the MetroWest Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Real Estate Bar Association (REBA) and the Worcester County Bar Association.
