Marlborough, MASS. May 21, 2014 – The committee tasked with developing a comprehensive action plan for the revitalization of Marlborough’s downtown will discuss potential design elements for the area at its public meeting on Thursday, May 22nd.
Ahead of the meeting, the Marlborough Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC), which are facilitating the downtown working group, are asking the public to submit photos of other downtown areas they find appealing. Together, city officials, business leaders, and local residents will openly review all submissions, and determine the most desirable and viable design elements, which will help to attract more people and businesses to downtown Marlborough.
MEDC and MAPC are urging all Marlborough residents to attend the meeting, which will take place at 5:30pm at City Hall’s Memorial Hall. Tomorrow’s gathering will be one of only two remaining downtown visioning sessions taking place before the committee hands its final recommendations over to the City Council.
“We’ve made great progress over the past couple of months,” said MEDC Executive Director, Tim Cummings, “and it’s all due to the incredible cooperation between our group members and the community. With everyone’s open and balanced participation, with the thoughtful leadership of Councilor Joe Delano and City Council President Patricia Pope, we’ve managed to review hundreds of ideas and narrow them down to about a dozen actionable recommendations. The next two meetings will help us work through the finer details of our action plan, which will hopefully go before the City Council within the next month.”

The downtown Marlborough committee’s final meeting is scheduled for 5:30pm on June 5th at Memorial Hall.
