MEDC can assist you with applications for rental assistance, equipment costs, tax credits and storefront beautification. These financial incentives will provide the boost you need to secure or improve your business.
Amenities Financing Program
The Marlborough Amenities Financing Program offers rent and equipment expense reimbursements to amenity businesses, like restaurants and brewpubs, that are looking to open or expand in the City of Marlborough, MA.
- Total value up to $25,000 — New restaurant, brewpub or other amenity business that opens in the city
- Up to $15,000 — Rental assistance portion reimburses new businesses for their first operating year
- Up to $10,000 — Equipment reimbursement covers 50% of their initial supply costs

Rental Assistance Program
The Marlborough Rental Assistance Program offers rent reimbursement grants of up to six months of rent.
- Up to $15,000 — Rental assistance for new or expanding businesses
Small Business Incentive Program
The Marlborough Small Business Incentive Program helps to reduce the tax liability of new or expanding businesses in key industries through a property tax reimbursement.
- Up to $25,000 – Property Tax Liability Credit

Storefront Beautification Program
The Marlborough Storefront Beautification Program offers reimbursement grants to businesses that are seeking to visually upgrade their storefronts or commercial buildings.
Maximum of $10,000 — Reimbursement can be up to 50% of the total project cost
Improvements can include, but are not limited to:
- Sign upgrades
- Renovating or restoring exterior façades
- Surface parking lots
- Landscaping

Who Can Apply
New or existing businesses, seeking to open, relocate or expand a for-profit unit in the City of Marlborough.
Requirements
All Applicants must demonstrate, but are not limited to:
- Willingness and ability to enter into a multi-year lease, with a minimum three (3) year term
- The proposed project would not be possible without the program’s assistance
- Financial ability to achieve successful long-term operations in the new or existing location
