Marlborough, MASS. August 28, 2013 – The Marlborough Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), in conjunction with the Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce (MRCC), is organizing a free educational session for local businesses interested in working with government entities.

The event, titled “The ABC’s of Procuring Government Contracts,” will aim to equip local business owners with practical ways to seek and secure government work. A panel of distinguished guests, representing all levels of government—local, state, national and international—will lead presentations and answer questions. The following panelists are scheduled to attend:

Beverly Sleeper, Procurement Officer, City of Marlborough;
Doug Bushman, Director, Marlborough Housing Authority;
Barbara Miller, Director of Training, Outreach & Marketing, Operational Services Division, Commonwealth of Massachusetts;
David Polatin, Assistant District Director, U.S. Small Business Administration;
Melissa Branzburg, International Trade Specialist, U.S. Commercial Service, U.S. Department of Commerce International Trade Administration.

“Annual procurement spending by state and federal governments is in the trillions,” said the MEDC Executive Director, Tim Cummings, “so there are plenty of opportunities out there for any type and size of company. Businesses simply need to know how to go about finding and ceasing these opportunities, and the ABC’s workshop will give them that knowledge. For free.”

The free session, which will also include a complimentary buffet breakfast, will take place from 7:30am to 9:15am on Friday, September 13, 2013 at the Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel. Small and large businesses from all industries are invited to register by phone at 508-485-7746 or email at marlcham@marlboroughchamber.org. Registration closes on September 9, 2013.
