Marlborough, MASS. November 28, 2012 – The Marlborough Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) encourages residents and area businesses to attend a public hearing, held by the City of Marlborough and the Marlborough Community Development Authority (CDA), to discuss a joint block grant application with the Town of Hudson. The hearing will take place Thursday, December 6, 2012, at 7 p.m., at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metrowest, 169 Pleasant Street, Marlborough.
Marlborough and Hudson are applying for a grant of up to $900,000 through the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program for fiscal year 2013. Marlborough officials will discuss ways the city’s share of the funds could be used toward reconstructing Kirby Street and sprucing up the signs and facades of commercial properties in the French Hill neighborhood and Downtown Marlborough. The Marlborough CDA, with the help of consultant Linda Overing, and the Town of Hudson will jointly carry out the projects.
“We look forward to partnering with Marlborough CDA and reviewing the comments as the City moves forward with the application,” said Tim Cummings of MEDC. “This process is an exciting opportunity for Marlborough to consider enhancement possibilities.”
Administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the CDBG program is open to cities and towns in Massachusetts that have populations below 50,000. It is the Commonwealth’s largest available resource for neighborhood revitalization projects.
