Marlborough, MASS. October 2, 2014 – As part of Mayor Arthur Vigeant’s Marlborough Works! initiative to increase local employment, the Marlborough Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) held a LinkedIn Workshop for local residents at the Embassy Suites on Tuesday night.

LinkedIn has become an essential tool for jobseekers and people looking to network with professionals online.

About 30 jobseekers attended the free seminar, which helped them better understand how to use LinkedIn to showcase their résumés, network with recruiters, and, most importantly, be found by potential employers.

This was the second of two free jobseeker workshops the MEDC held last month, ahead of the flagshipMarlborough Works! Job Fair on October 7th.

“For three years now, we have been successfully running the Marlborough Works! initiative, and helping match up local job openings to you, the jobseekers,” said Mayor Vigeant, addressing Thursday night’s event attendees. “This LinkedIn workshop and last week’s résumé workshop are designed to better equip you for your job search, as well as for the upcoming job fair. A number of new companies have moved into our city recently, so our job market is healthy and the opportunities are there. Now is your chance to seize them.”

The Marlborough Works! Job Fair will take place on October 7th from 6pm to 8pm at the Courtyard by Marriott-Marlborough Ballroom. Veterans and attendees of the Marlborough Works! workshops, will receive priority access to employers at the fair, starting at 5:30pm.

Close to 30 companies from various industries have already signed up to take part in the free event, including GE Healthcare, Quest Diagnostics, SanDisk, Boston Scientific, and many more.

Although registration is not mandatory, those interested in attending the Marlborough Works! Job Fair are encouraged to register at www.etrcc.com/forms-marlborough-job-fair-registration.php.

Ahead of the fair, jobseekers can get regular updates on participating companies and open positions on MEDC’s website, www.marlboroughedc.com/marlboroughworks.
