Marlborough, MA – February 11, 2010 — The Marlborough Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), formally the Marlborough 2010 Corporation is happy to announce that it will be holding a downtown meeting on March 2, 2010 at 5:00 PM at the Main Street Cafe, located at 182 Main Street. The purpose of this meeting will be to bring together city officials, downtown businesses and interested residents in order to find ways to work together on activities that will foster revitalization of downtown Marlborough.
In 2008 and in 2009 the MEDC conducted two outreach projects to solicit information from the businesses, residents and city leaders about what is missing from downtown and what improvements are needed to enhance downtown Marlborough as a desirable place to live and work. The 2009 study by Tufts University Urban Planning Department resulted in a comprehensive plan that outlined actions that can be taken by businesses, city leadership and the community that could make a difference.
MEDC will use their March 2nd meeting to discuss these action items and ask the community to decide which are worth pursuing and likely to produce results. Marilyn Whalley, Executive Director of MEDC, will be spearheading the discussion and she welcomes participation by all downtown Marlborough stakeholders.
