MARLBOROUGH, MASS., June 13, 2012 — Marlborough Hospital, Boston Scientific and Raytheon are among the more than two dozen companies that will recruit for over 100 open positions at the “Marlborough Works!” Job Fair on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, 6-8:30 p.m., at the Courtyard Marriott, 75 Felton St., Marlborough. The free event, which is open to the public, will match up job seekers with companies that do business in Marlborough.

Hiring decision-makers will collect résumés from job candidates who are interested in working at several industries, including the health-care, manufacturing, hospitality and alternative energy sectors. Companies scheduled to attend also include Sunovion Pharmaceuticals, Ken’s Foods, Solar City and Home Depot. (For a complete list of participating companies, go to http://cce.qcc.mass.edu.)

As part of his initial outreach to the Marlborough business community during the beginning of his term, Marlborough Mayor Arthur Vigeant heard directly from well-known companies about their increasing need for new employees. “I thought a job fair was the best way to build a bridge between the companies in our city and the talented residents we have who are waiting for an opportunity to come their way. It’s a win-win for everyone,” he said.

Mayor Vigeant enlisted the help of the Marlborough Economic Development Corporation and Quinsigamond Community College to facilitate the “Marlborough Works!” initiative, including the Professional Résumé and Interview Workshop, which more than 40 people attended in May. “When local businesses expand and grow, we want to be a resource for them, to encourage them to stay in the city and to attract new businesses,” Mayor Vigeant said. “One way to do that is to help them with their recruiting efforts.”
